Eating To Live or Living To Eat?

Eating To Live or Living To Eat?

Eating to live or are you living to eat? This has to be a question that we have all come across at some point in our lives. Is eating the only reason why we are living or are we eating so that we can successfully live our lives. So to try and make sense of all this, I am going to share a perspective with you, a perspective that could change your views on the whole process of eating forever.

Now before I begin to discuss the whole premise behind the eating process I would like to make one clear distinction. This distinction is that the body and the mind are two different entities. The reasoning behind this distinction will become more apparent as we go along, so to start with lets begin with ones body. The human body as it stands is a perfectly designed machine, a machine designed with such great precision and ingenuity, it is nothing short of a masterpiece. To see it, feel it and understand it in its entirety and complexity alone will blow your mind away. To make this machine function and to function it must it needs to be fed. It needs to be fed with the right nutrients, of the right quantities and at the right times. Only then can this machine function at its optimum and consistently deliver peak performance. This machines functioning is controlled and managed effectively by none other than the brain. The brain is the bodies power house, it determines how to best operate and regulate the bodies functions always trying to keep everything running in perfect order. So when the body is hungry it will give you signs and signals that it is time to re-energise… This is when you are eating to live.. Eating purely to keep you system functioning at its optimum levels and continually ensuring that the body remains in perfect harmony.

Now if the body tells you when to eat… then why is it that many are finding themselves “living to eat”. You will find the reason behind this has something to do with the distinction that I had made earlier. The distinction that the mind and body are separate entities. It is the faculty of the mind that creates the desire to always want to eat. This distinction alone could be the largest reason why the world has seen such an epidemic in obesity. Now to add some justification to the former statement, let me explain a little bit about the mind. The mind in itself is nothing more than a storage facility, a super warehouse full of information that has been collected over your lifetime. This information has been filtered through your 5 senses both consciously and unconsciously which has become imbedded deep within you. When information is needed it is retrieved and then used accordingly when you make your decisions.

You may now be asking the question “thats all being well but what has this got to do with living to eat? This my friends is the reason why people overeat and overindulge, not because there body is asking them too, but because there senses and mind are overruling everything they know. Everyone eats through there eyes, they taste with there mouth’s and smell with there noses. These are the three filters that dominate your desire to want to eat. Now to get someone to over eat is easy… Over time all you have to do via various sensory methods is persuade them that the body needs food. It can either be by stimulating there eyes, creating a smell that they can relate to or even giving them something to taste so to fire-up there taste buds. Once that is done all they need to then find is an attachment to food via an emotionally draining episode whether that be hurt, fear, loss, pain, stress, anxiety etc…. Thus every time a mind created scenario plays out which leaves one totally drained. The lack of energy draws one to overeat to re-energise creating a pseudo-positive outcome. You have just witnessed how a mind created scenario, coupled with a sensory stimulant can easily lead to over consumption.

It really is that simple, by manipulating how one thinks “eating to live” suddenly can be turned into “living to eat”. By unconsciously feeding ones mind with images, sounds, smells, tastes and negativity anyone can become a slave to there senses and mind controlled desires. So now you can see why gluttony and obesity could have the possibility of running hand in hand. Just take some time to think about how your mind has been manipulated to do such things? and why it may have been done? The challenge now is to work on breaking free of such cyclical processes, by making sure that you mind what matters the most…. YOU

The Lust For Love – An Emotional Rollercoaster

The Lust For Love

The Lust for Love a battle of cataclysmic proportions, a duel of such great magnitude that it can leave you either drowning for survival, or it can lift you to the heavens. Lust and Love are always seen as being opposites in nature, one based purely on instinct while the other is found deep within you. Both have there timely purpose, but only one will eventually free you from the illusions that you have been led to believe.

The actions of lust have been ingrained in man as the desire to procreate. It has been driven hard by instinct to guarantee power, fulfilment and survival. Lust has always had a very uncanny way of masking itself as being love, for those who are unaware it, it can very easily consume them into the darkest depths of a false reality. The drivers for this lustful mechanism are that of ego and mind. The mask that this duo can create can appear so genuine that it can make this pseudo-love feel completely real. You see the sense of “I” the ego is driven by desire. It has only the desire to realise its own identity, to make itself feel alive. It has a smart way of drawing the mind into conspiring for its own selfish endeavours. The unconscious mind which is none the wiser gives into the ego, surrendering itself unknowingly to fulfil its conspirator’s needs. From the imagery of the setting to the feelings of emotions it can gain all it requires to hatch its master plan. Before you know it just like magic an illusionary mind created situation suddenly starts to feel real. An illusion so cleverly detailed that you can lose all your common sense, so smartly thought out that breaking out can become near enough impossible. The ego and mind have just made you their prisoner, they smile as they continue to fulfil there own selfish agendas.

Now love, love is a totally different dimension. Love has no mask it doesn’t need to hide from anything. In fact it has no attachments at all. Love doesn’t need to find a reason to exist. Pure in it’s origin it comes from a hidden place, a place so deep that it has the ability to shake up your whole existence. You see love is not something that you search for and find. Love is not something that you can gain from worldly delights. It has no bounds it has no limits, you could say it is all pervading, infinite so to speak. It is essence in its purest form, priceless yet abundant. So where is this love you might ask? “Take a look at who is looking for it”. The one thing that everyone is searching for which always seems difficult to find. The one thing you are willing to move heaven and earth for inorder to feel its presence….. You maybe looking your whole life for love and you still won’t find it. Why? Because you will have been looking in all the wrong places for its existence.

You see love cannot be found outside of you. In fact it doesn’t actually need to be found at all. The reason for this is because love is actually within you, you are what you are looking for. You are love from the core, you are love in its most complete form. You are love and love is you. What you are searching for is you, all the world is doing is reflecting you. People, places, objects and possessions all of these things are just mirroring who you truly are. So you can now begin to imagine why we all seek for love outside of us… We seek because its the outside which is always showing us the inside, the love that we always have been. The outside is merely just a reflection of who we genuinely are.

So the next time you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, mesmerised and excited at the thought that you might be in love. Just take a moment to see how you are charging up. Always remember whatever is making you feel this way is actually just reflecting you. Just make sure that the power of conscious love is in the driving seat of your decisions and not the lustful backseat passenger whose always trying to pull the wool over your eyes.

‘Lust is when you love what you see. Love is when you lust for whats inside.’ – Renee Conkle

Greed – An Act Of Scarcity in Abundance

Greed - An Act Of Scarcity in Abundance

Greed a word used by many but understood by so few. An illness of epidemic proportions that has infiltrated its way into the lives of so many, leaving only a small number unscathed. Greed has clawed itself into modern civilization at a phenomenal rate leaving the majority trapped in its firm grip. Greed has become the defining expression of ones ego, the need for self preservation being the paramount reason for ones actions. It has sunk man into an dark abyss of illusion, keeping all that it controls hostage. It has become a prescription for purpose, a reason for living. Nothing however could be further from the truth. It is within these dark shadows of greed that lurks a light, a light of new hope. A light which if allowed to shine could dissolve the grip that this ego driven faculty has had over its hostages for far too long.

So what is it that causes such an illusion to have a powerful grip over so many? What is it that gives rise to its strength? What is it that can be done to loosen it’s grip over you? These are some of the questions that I have found myself asking many a time. I shall now reveal some of my deeper revelations over this presiding trait and how it has become a parasitic entity in the society that we now live in.

Greed has been a faculty that has been ingrained into humans from the beginning of “time”. It has been etched into the deepest space of each and everyone of us, etched so perfectly by ego that it only has one desire. The desire to survive, the desire to keep alive and ensure its very own survival. Believe me when I say this but this instinct of survival is so powerful that it at any moment can cloud even the purest of minds. It’s hold is so captivating that it will make anyone caught in it’s grip feel as though it is necessary to act in such a way. Little would you know that the ego and the mind are masterminding this very illusion, the illusion to keep you trapped for all of eternity in there control.

Survival of the fittest has always been the mainstay of thought that we have all been taught to adhere to. Survival is coded into our genetic blueprint, either you ‘survive or you die’ has been the slogan so often spoken of. This school of thought would be very understandable in this day and age if we were a new species inhabiting earth. Luckily for all of us we have been around long enough to see that our dominance supersedes all other forms of creation in turn. Then why is it that we are all trying to still survive? Why is it that we all feel the need to accumulate in a world where abundance is plentiful?

Fear is the driver that drives you to be greedy, fear of your own security is the only reason why you choose to act this way. Whether you are greedy for wealth, fame, food or love you will go to any lengths to secure yourself. Nothing can and will stop you in your pursuit, so much so that you are actually leaving yourself more insecure than you could ever have imagined. How can this be? how can securing oneself leave you more insecure? Well let me tell you a little about our dear friend the “ego”. Ego or the so called “I” in everything is the label you attach to “self” to secure your own identity. “I” is what separates you from everything that exists, so much so that it becomes who you are. The ego needs to survive and it does this layer by layer, slowly using whatever it can to strengthen its grip over you. It is very clever in its pursuits and by keeping you in a repetitive cycle, you remain none the wiser. You start to act and action in such a way to preserve your identity; but in doing so you continually give away your power to the external world. This vicious cycle of accumulation to secure oneself is the trait that you will see occurring constantly around you. What people seem to not realise is that by securing themselves externally, they are leaving there inner self unbalanced. It is this imbalance that people are unaware of that creates all the physical, mental and emotional problems seen throughout the world.

As humanity there is no need for us to be greedy, we have everything we need to survive as a species. Some of us maybe far more fortunate than others, this only being a privilege and not a right. For those who have sunk due to greed, will have come to realise that this dark hole has no end. These are the few who will emerge from darkness to bring light to those still trapped in the tunnel of illusion. If we are to survive the tests of time, we must all learn to share, give and support one another. Only these acts of unity can bring about change in a world that had been driven by selfish and egotistical endeavours for far too long. We have created so much abundance for everyone to share, yet we still are living as though everything is scarce. A new dawn is now on the horizon and we must all wake upto the realisation that this journey is for all of us to enjoy equally.

Fear | Evolving To Become Fearless

Fear | Evolving To Become Fearless

Fear – What is it? How does it arise? Why is it so deeply ingrained in humanity? are some of the many questions about fear that I always found myself asking. Sometimes I would find myself drowning completely in fear, while other times I would be fearlessly sailing the seas. It may seem very assumptive to say this, but I strongly believe that of the 7.6 billion people who inhabit this planet pretty much everyone lives in fear.

Fear is something that will for sure exist to varying degrees in all our lives, it is where our quest for survival originates from. However to what degree fear plays in your life only you can decide. Either it can control you or you can control it, the choice has and always will be yours. Now for me it all came to a sudden realisation that day when everything changed, when I woke up and questioned Who Am I? I realised for the first time that fear had been running my script, fear had been running my life. For the first time ever I felt a sudden sense of freedom a feeling of release. It was as if I had been reborn as if suddenly a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I had for the first time experienced what fearlessness felt like. But I knew that this feeling of euphoria needed close management and understanding. If I was planning on keeping it I had to first figure out why I had been fearful for all these years. What had created this fear? and why had it had such a powerful hold over me? What I will share with you is my findings, findings which arose after moments in deep contemplation and self awareness. I hope that what I am about to reveal will too some degree go towards helping people overcome many of there own fears and in turn change there lives for the better.

To understand fear you must first learn to understand why it exists. Fear is one of the two principles found in the physiological mechanism of fight or flight. It is a hard wired characteristic built into all of us to create inertia, the inertia to keep moving. But why is fear such a dominating factor in all that we do.. well let me explain this to you now.

Let me take you back to that first day when you entered this worldly plane. For it is from that day forth that has determined your relationship with fear. You see when you are born you effectively have no concept of attachments, emotions, desires or fear. Your instinctive objective at that point in time is purely to find comfort, safety, nourishment and rest. You effectively have entered this new life as a blank CD with no map to guide you. In essence you are the closest to source and completely free. However as time passes on this CD starts to slowly fill up, your senses of sight, sound, touch, taste and smell being the filters through which you learn to see the world. All these senses are doing are allowing you to navigate the world safely, thus reinforcing the survival mechanism. What is key to understand here is that what you filter, you subconsciously store and what you store in time can become your reality. So for example lets say that you have been brought up in a setting where people around you have always been fearful, fearful of there safety, there status and security even fearful of death itself. This is what your daily exposure becomes and it is this exposure that starts to fill up your CD. The more exposure you have the stronger the characteristics become, until one day they become part of who you are.

Now as a child you have no control yourself to decide what to filter in and what to filter out. Your mind is like a sponge and you will absorb everything you are exposed to. So the key point to understand here is to try and minimise the exposure of fear you give to a young mind. The sources of exposure are many; but I will let you ponder over the varying types that exist. Fear is a characteristic that has been over developed, to a point greater than what is needed for survival. I am sure I do not have to spell it out to you as to why this has been done, but I will leave you with this one thought “In love you set free, in fear you …..”

Remember this one truth and that truth is that there is nothing in life that you need to fear, everything you have ever wanted lies on the other side of fear. In order to reach there you must first become fearless. To be fearful means you are using the stored information to add value to the present moment. In doing so you are operating from the past, fearing but not living. Only you can understand your fears and only you can learn to overcome them. You must come to understand that fear will exist throughout your whole life, but you will need to decide whether the decisions you make in this moment are made in either love or in fear. That choice I will leave upto you….

Root Chakra – Muladhara Chakra Pt 2

Root Chakra - Muladhara Chakra Pt 2

Root Chakra was now open, its contents spewing like a volcanic eruption directionless and intense. The Root Chakra seemed like a little shop of horrors, one by one bringing into my consciousness things I did not want to see. It appeared now that the contents of the Root Chakra had been unconsciously suppressed, each faculty layering up over time, strengthening its hold and thus making me its victim. Unknowingly I had been controlled like a puppet for years, dangled by a power so strong that if I had not awoken it could have easily controlled me for the rest of my life.

The Root Chakra is the boundary between animal consciousness and human consciousness. It is from this chakra that you see the transition from a sleep like state to an awakened state. Luckily for me I had been awoken by something and it was my time to embrace what I was being shown. One by one the qualities that I guess I had come to accept as normal were being shown to me in a very different light. I was being made to acknowledge them, delve deeper into there source, there triggers, there reasons and I was having to confront them head on. The physical symptoms of confronting a lot of the qualities that I had unconsciously come to rely on where exposing me to my pain-body. There were times of physical distress, nausea, headaches all of which were being caused by my mind bringing forth these traits. The traits for now I will keep personal to my own experience; but I will share with you the two sides. Some will be more stronger and some weaker. The key is to become conscious of them find balance in yourself and then to ensure they do not take you for a ride.

The traits are as follows each showing the dualistic principles that exist, one being the positive and the other negative.

Sins & Virtues | Secret Mirrors

As you can see these are the so called sins and virtues so often spoken of. They form the basis for a large majority of problems we see in society today. It is only when each one is brought to the light of awareness, understood, controlled and dissolved with consciousness can then the bursting Root chakra be brought back to rest. Control of each one will take time and patience and that is exactly what I was slowly learning to do. The key here was to know how to control each one, understand it before it tried to arise and banish it before it stuck its claws into me. It seems easy now when I look back especially as now I am the master of my mind; but while in the thick of it, it was a completely different story. Courage is what kept me going, I wanted to be free of how I was feeling and my guide was helping me keep faith. The journey was progressing; but somehow I knew there was going to be a light at the end of all this and that is what I kept myself fixated on.

Muladhara Chakra – The Root Chakra Pt 1

Muladhara Chakra | Secret Mirrors

It was from her abode of the Muladhara Chakra that Shakti had ferociously arisen, her keeper had finally released her; but her release was not going to be plane sailing to say the least. Muladhara Chakra or the “Root chakra” is the lowest most centre in the etheric energy system. The Muladhara Chakra is located at the lower end of the spinal column, where the energy kundalini sits patiently, dormant and unconscious until her release.

Within this chakra you will find housed all the information that you have accumulated in your lifetime. It will be based on all the unconscious seeds that you have sown and the karma (actions) that you have conducted. It is a storage facility that keeps you unconsciously trapped in a cycle of play, pause and repeat. Only when you have become aware of Shiva and Shakti and attained a balance, is it safe for the storage facility to be opened. This is exactly what had happened when Shakti had been released from her prison. Everything that had kept me in a repetitive cycle for all these years had finally been exposed, you can only imagine what that would have felt like. Remember when I was questioning “Who Am I” you can now probably envision what I may have been going through. One minute everything was going perfectly well… “thats what I had thought” and then suddenly the next minute “ca-boom”. Everything I had ever believed was all thrown up into the air and I was left reeling with all the broken pieces. The jigsaw that I had been trying to put together for all of these years had just been restarted, but it was the revelations that came with this release that was going to change life forever.

When the Muladhara Chakra is first activated qualities that you have been unaware of can be suddenly released these can be either positive or negative in nature. Until it happens to you, you will not know what the experience is going to be like. A positive experience is accompanied by the feeling of freedom, joy, balance, happiness and an overwhelming completeness with oneself. A negative experience can be that of pure destruction, anger, rage and a consuming need to fulfill passion and desires. This is why it is so important that both purusha and prakriti are fully awake and ready to help with balancing of whatever experience you entail. All that I had to work on was slowly being released, the problem for me was that it was not happening at a slow and steady pace. I was finding I was being hit with everything in one go, before I had come to understand one of my demons the next was up and ready to show its head. “Just my luck” I would think, having always been impatient with everything previously I was being given a good dose of my own medicine.

Times had now become testing and I was being tested on all fronts, the feeling of being pulled in all directions is what I had been feeling like. Nothing or nobody could protect me from this, I had unconsciously created my own demons and I now had to consciously banish them forever. I was sure Shakti’s release was going to be a blessing, but at this moment in time my optimism was on a fine tether. I had to keep strong, I had to continue facing my fears.

Everything you want is on the other side of fear.’ – Jack Canfield

Gate Keeper | Shakti Enters A New Space

Gate Keeper | Secret Mirrors

Patience has always been seen as a virtue and who better too show it to me than the gate keeper. The gate keeper had been seated quietly in pose, just waiting patiently for the time to come to hear his long awaited order. A gentle voice now whispered “son its time open the gates for me, let me light up the path that will lead you to heaven”. As the gate keepers gates crashed open, a burst of intense energy (shakti) surged straight through, it had just entered a new space, fiercely it burst forth free and electrifying. It was at that very moment that I came to realise how important Shiva had really become. She needed controlling and it would take a conscious effort on my part to ease her down slowly.

I can only imagine from this standpoint that if Shiva had remained dormant, and by some random chance Shakti had passed through the gates then destruction would definitely have been on the cards. Fortunately for me the gate keeper had kept things held in place. Only when both Shiva and Shakti were active could Shakti enter her new abode. Her journey needed guidance but where was she going? Why did she need close vigilance? New questions were arising; I knew now though that the answers would reveal themselves exactly when needed. Fear no longer drove me, I had become fearless. I felt free and anew, this change was amazing and I was naturally evolving to keep it that way.

All this time Shakti had been sitting dormant in her home of the muladhara chakra, her son ganesha had been guarding her very closely. She was a coiled serpant waiting to be set free, freedom was what she had been seeking but only when her patience was under control would she be granted her wish. Only her keeper could order her to pass, only then could kundalini begin her ascension back to her origin, her source. Her journey was not going to be easy; but knowing that Shiva was by her side she would find comfort with every step she took. There were going to be many challenges on her new path, each one exposing her to new battles. It was in these battles she would come to learn about life and it would be from these lessons she would experience all that life would have to offer her. Shiva would always be silently guiding her when she was faced with adversity and it was in this solace she knew that she was safe and secure. It was in his arms that she would find a new love, a love for who and what she really was.

The real journey had just began, one of immense importance, one that could reset everything I had ever known. The jigsaw was slowly piecing together and one day it would finally reveal its secret.

‘It’s your road, and yours alone. Others may walk it with you,but no one can walk it for you’– Rumi

Ganesha | The Gate Keeper

Ganesha | Secret Mirrors

Ganesha is a deity often referred to as the remover of all obstacles. He is the son of Shiva & Shakti and the gate keeper of the Muladhara Chakra. Ganesha has a unique and bizarre appearance which draws you into questioning his origin, but it is the symbolic representation of his features that really bring about change. Ganesha has many stories as to his true origin, of which can be found in many a literature. What is of more significance though, is how he ties in with Shiva & Shakti and what part he plays in there union.

To start with let me begin by discussing some of this deities characteristic features and the type of message they are trying to convey. You will see from the outset that the first striking question that glares out to anyone viewing an image of ganesha is the fact that he appears to be half human, half animal. This is for sure a thought provoking observation and one that would easily question anybodies intellect. However once you look at what it is maybe trying to depict it can start to reveal some very smart symbolism.

Out of all of the species that we see in the animal kingdom, the elephant is known to have some of the most favourable characteristics known to man. They are known to exhibit an excellent memory, as they say ‘elephants never forget’, they are found to be gentle in nature, wise in there demeanour and they seem to be very patient listeners. You will agree these are very admirable qualities to find, and this is exactly what the elephant head on a human body is trying to present. Even though we maybe classed as human in physicality, we should all at times try to change our characteristics, in order to evolve and become better individuals. These changes no doubt will bring us closer to revealing a lot about who we are and what our purpose in life really entails. The improvements we should all try to work towards are as follow, each represented symbolically in lord ganesha.

  1. The large elephant head, depicts that we should always try to think big. We should strive to always remember that there is something bigger than you and I and no matter what we strive for, ensure that we are becoming wiser with each step that we take.
  2. The large ears, small mouth and small eyes are a reminder to listen more, speak less and concentrate. To listen is to learn and to speak is to only give opinion based on ones own experience. It is sometimes better to sit still and concentrate, only to give opinions when asked. But remember in giving opinions, you are merely recycling information which you have stored from personal experience and it is sometimes of no use in the present moment.
  3. The trunk is a representation of how one should try to always remain efficient and adaptable. Life is in constant flux and we should all try to move in harmony with its ebbs and flows. Resistance should not be an option and all change should be embraced as positive progress.
  4. The vehicle of choice is a mouse, small yet fierce in numbers. It is a gentle reminder that in life there will be many obstacles especially those of desire. What is important to acknowledge here is to ensure that when desires do arise, be conscious of them, let them pass without giving them any energy. Ride them out and keep them under your full control.
  5. Usually you will find some sweet delights next to ganesha, usually a reminder that the world is your oyster and it has many rewards to offer those seekers who are looking to fully enjoy its opportunities. Just remember to consciously enjoy the worldly delights so that they do not entrap you in a world of illusion.

So these are some of the many qualities that individuals should try to attain, if they want to really see progress on this wonderful journey. But you may ask why should I want to change? Am I not already perfect? Well the answer to these questions really lie in you. Any obstacles you face in life are lessons waiting to be learnt, they are put before you as a learning tool and they will only ever cease to exist once you have consciously acknowledged them. Until you embrace there presence, they will just keep repeating themselves. It is you who is creating the obstacles and it is only you who will be able to dissolve them. The magic will only happen once all obstacles have been totally removed, this is when ganesha will finally open the gates to his kingdom. It is in the sanctuary of the muladhara chakra where he sits patiently, patiently for the day to come where the orders are given to finally let kundalini energy (shakti) begin her ascension.

Shiva and Shakti | The Balance of Life

Shiva And Shakti Inner Life of Unity

Shiva and Shakti are the two powers that symbolise, pure consciousness and pure energy respectively. Shiva and Shakti had both now introduced me to their presence and given me an everlasting glimpse of what they both had to offer. Shakti, had come at tremendous force when she had made herself known, but Shiva had been a little more calm in his approach. I guess this was all going to make more sense as I stepped forwards into learning more about these two fascinating principles.

Shakti had been dominating the left side of my so called energy system, while Shiva had remained more hidden on my right. Both these energy systems needed one another to create harmony and balance, I had never known about this so called imbalance previously, only was it now that it was all coming to together. Shakti or energy is power and creativity, which in life leads to the processes of action, movement, inertia and change. Shiva on the other hand is pure consciousness, omnipresent, stable and unchanging. Both Shiva and Shakti are actually dualistic representation of the same. They are different sides of the same coin, separated when we came into existence. These two aspects cannot exist without one another, only when they combine will life’s conscious journey really start to commence.

For me I guess shakti had been dominating me for most of my life, she had been trying to give me the power to move forwards, embrace change and put me into action. Unknown to me at the time was that I was unconscious and asleep, shiva had been dormant and therefore shakti’s efforts had gone untended. He was now awake, consciousness had been awoken, I was ready now for shakti to give me her command. Energy without consciousness, is aimless, unstructured and misdirected. No matter how much time and energy you put into whatever you desire, if your consciousness is not active, it will not materialise. Just like consciousness without energy, is un-constructive and lies dormant. Shakti in effect is a magical projection of your life story, which can only be projected once the screen of Shiva has become fully active.

I knew that my energy had always been strong and powerful, but now I had found that it had always been aimlessly directed. A new entity had now entered my life, consciousness. I guess who I had become had been based on an overpowering left sided energy system (ida). I now had to find a new balance, I had to understand more about consciousness (pingala). I found myself starting to become a new person, as if I was leaving a old me behind. What I had identified myself with could no longer gave me confirmation, Who Am I? was the question that kept stirring around in my head. If Shakti had made me who I was, and Shiva was now showing me another side, then was what I had known all along an illusion? Things really were starting to get unnerving, but I had to keep faith. Having come this far there really was no turning back, where would I go? All I knew was that something was protecting me and it was this feeling that gave me comfort and strength to keep moving forwards.

There is no coming to consciousness without pain

Lord Shiva | Characteristics – Pt2

Lord Shiva

Lord Shiva has and always will be a majestic and thought provoking character for me. He has always captivated me in an unexplainable way; but only is it now that I am in a place of pure bliss that I can unravel the strong grip he has had over me for so many years. Lord Shiva just seems to have this presence, when you are close to him he literally takes your breath away. And rightly so he should, because what he will show you when you are ready will revolutionise your world forever.

Lord Shiva’s characteristics are those of enormous significance, only when you look very closely will you realise what they mean. Firstly it is important to understand that Lord Shiva is one of many forms, each one of his forms depicting different qualities of which you will find in each living being. The importance of this is to understand that we all have different characteristics which make us unique, but what is significant is that we are conscious of them and in full control of them. Then only can these characteristics become useful in finding out more about who we truly are.

The main aspects of Lord Shiva that I will elaborate on are as follows, each one of these will make you more conscious and more mindful, while you continue on your journey of life. The first trait of this divine cosmic being is his so called “third eye“. Shiva is said to possess, not only the two physiological eyes you and I have; but also an additional one which sits between the two. This third eye is the entrance to the mind. It is the eye what will eventually dissolve all Maya (illusion) that you see and will give rise to total reality. The eye is said to make one both more aware and conscious, eventually leading one to his or her true self, the true reality of pure consciousness. Once the third eye is said to be active you will find that you no longer are projecting the illusionary world that you see around you. Instead you will learn to embrace it in all its beauty and come to the realisation that you are the world and that the world is you.

Lord shiva is seen to carry a three pronged trishul (trident). The symbolic significance of this is to remind us about balance in life. Life is energy and its the flow of energy that governs balance. The energy system is made up of 72,000 nadis (channels), of which the main three sources are Ida, Pingala & Sushumna. Ida you will find on the left, Pingala on the right and Sushumna in the centre. Ida is said to represent the feminine aspect of ones self, calming, cool, emotional, seeking desires. Whereas the Pingala is said to represent the male aspect of ones self, anger, heat, emotionless, detached actions. Sushumna is the centre energy channel, which when once you have balanced your ida and pingala, you will enter, duality will become unity. People will spend there whole lives oscillating between ida and pingala; but those fortunate enough to enter sushumna will start to see the magic that awaits them. Life will suddenly change as kundalini is awakened, the once dormant coiled serpent that sat quietly in the muladhara chakra, will finally make itself known. Believe me you will know when you have entered sushumna, because that is when your ascension to pure consciousness will have begun.

Shiva no matter where you look, will always be depicted with cobra snakes adorning his body. In particular you will find a snake around his neck, the centre of the vishuddi chakra, the fifth centre of the energy system. Vishuddi literally means “especially pure”, cobras as you are aware carry a venomous poison of which the effects are very well documented. The symbolic meaning of the cobras in this case is to show that the vishuddi chakra acts as a block/filter to help prevent negative thoughts, emotions, energy or ideas from entering the energy system and thus keeping order and balance. Only that which is pure will be filtered through, thus ensuring your ascension remains upwards through the energy system.

The moon that adorns Lord Shivas head is a symbolic representation of the feminine characteristics of being cool, calm, patient, relaxed yet alert. You will find Shiva is depicted in a yogic pose, a position representing total relaxation and intoxication, he is pure consciousness. He is in a total state of bliss, completely immersed in self, yet he is fully alert. When you have found your real self, you will instantly find that you are totally relaxed and at ease. Its from this place that you will finally start to change not only your reality, but for those around you.

It is these symbolic representations that are a reminder of what the human race should be looking at, at all times to achieve. It is only by understanding your inner world and creating that inner space which is you sanctuary. Will you be able to find true balance and harmony, once you get that right your outer world will magically transform forever.
